School Tours & Youth Groups

Eckley Miners’ Village Museum offers a unique learning experience for visiting youths grades K-12. College and Adult groups are also welcome and can find pricing on our Group Tours page. As a preserved anthracite coal mining village, it is a historic site that gives children the opportunity to see what home life was like for immigrant mining families beginning as early as 1854. For information and to access our education resources that will enhance your learning experience at Eckley Miners’ Village, please visit the Learn section of website.

Field Trips (Grades K-12)

Field trips are available throughout the year but must be scheduled at least three weeks prior to the intended tour date to guarantee availability. Reservations are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis and may be contingent upon staff availability. Large groups will be divided to provide the best experience possible. The Museum Educator will work with the group’s representative to customize your visit.

Eckley Explorers (Multi-Media Education Kits)

COMING SOON

The Eckley Explorers Kits are educational, multi-media classroom kits that teachers can borrow from the museum. We worked with an advisory committee made up of teachers from various counties in the region to ensure the kits work with classroom curricula. The kits will have artifacts (where available), lesson plans, enrichment activities, and supplies. In cases of need, we can provide shipping to and from the school.

To learn more about how to get an Eckley Explorer Kit, visit the Eckley Outreach and Subsidy Programs page, or call the museum at 570-636-2070 today.

Homeschool Families

Whether visiting as part of a larger group or as an individual family, Eckley Miners’ Village Museum can help plan a visit to meet educational goals. Tours of the village require groups of 10 or more – please call in advance to schedule your visit.

Scout Groups

Eckley Miners’ Village works with scout leaders to help Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Boy Scouts earn badges. Activity days for scout groups can include crafts, a scavenger hunt and a tour of the village. Projects for service and Eagle Scout are also available.
